Previewing Julius Caesar for the Montréal Gazette, Jim Burke interviews three of the show’s stars, along with Artistic Director Amanda Kellock.

This summer, Shakespeare-in-the-Park’s all-female take on the “incomparably macho Julius Caesar” leads audiences to questions preconceived notions of power and gender performance in political drama, both on stage and in real life. Burke’s piece provides readers with some insight into how the actors’ bring their characters to life on stage, and the production’s creative concept.

Speaking about their respective characters, Gitanjali Jain, Leni Parker, and Deena Aziz note the importance of researching historical details about dramatis personae, as well as the physical and mental aspects of embodying those roles.
